While over-the-counter bleaching agents are available at many locations, professional teeth whitening is the safest option as it is less harmful to your teeth and gums.
Types of Teeth Whitening
There are several different types of professional teeth whitening: in-office and out-of-office. Both types offer their own benefits in terms of how long they take and how white your teeth will be after.
In-office treatments offer quick results that will have you smiling! During this procedure a safe bleaching solution will be applied to your teeth and activated with a high intensity light. After about an hour your teeth will have the glamourous white glow you’ve been seeking and correct your tooth discolouration.
Out-of-office methods take longer but offer the convenience and comfort of being at home. A custom whitening tray using a mould of your teeth will be created. You will then be given a whitening gel that fills the tray. You will wear the tray 3-4 hours a day for one to two weeks. At the end of this time, you will notice considerable whitening.
Following either treatment you could experience tooth and gum sensitivity for a few days. If the sensitivity persists, contact your dentist.
